A leading specialist company in the field of corrosion protection, civil, mechanical, and electrical maintenance on water systems, based in Port Elizabeth (South Africa), currently requires a PROJECT MANAGER (Civil & Concrete).

Established on 4 March 1971, SPEC has undergone a number of changes in name, ownership, and functionality and on 17 November 1995 it was registered as “Surface Prepartions Equipment and Coatings
(Pty) Ltd t/a SPEC. Currently, it’s owned by the Avenant Familie Trust – 49% and SPEC Investco (Pty) Ltd – 51%. SPEC is focused on its main objective; to provide specialist services in the field of water engineering together with corrosion protection and maintenance services to the industry.

SPEC GROUP is a collective name for all the Companies under the SPEC banner. These Companies are:

• Property – SPEC Holding Trust
• Projects – Surface Preparations Equipment and Coatings (Pty) Ltd
• Manufacture – SPEC Corrosion Protection (Pty) Ltd
• Trading – SPEC Hardware (Pty) Ltd

SPEC Corrosion Protection (Pty) Ltd is the factory division of the “mother Company” (Surface Preparations Equipment and Coatings (Pty) Ltd t/a SPEC). Since this section grew too big, it was decided to create a legal entity on its own, that would then service the entire Nelson Mandela Metro’s business efficiently.  The focus is still to supply corrosion protection and mechanical refurbishment to industry from our factory and on-site.

Tasks:

• Overall Planning and Management of Civil projects as assigned.
• Quality Management on assigned projects.
• Planning per MS Project Programs.
• Manage Resources/finance/invoicing/cash flow/payments.
• Attending site Meetings.
• Liaison with Clients.
• Reporting to Executive Manager (Operations).

Job Requirements:

• Min. 3 Year Relevant Civil Diploma/ or BTech Degree and registered or Min. 3 Year Diploma in Project Management and registered at SACPCMP
• Minimum 5 (Five) years’ post qualification experience as Project Manager with projects > R15 Mil., preferably in a Water Eng. Environment.
• Sound knowledge of FIDIC, GCC2015, NEC3 Contracts.
• Sound knowledge of MS Projects Programs and MS Excel.
• Ability to read Mechanical and Civil drawings.
• Good understanding of a Tender Contract BoQ.
• Strong planning and organizational skills.
• High level of problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to make decisions within post perimeters and take responsibility for decisions taken.
• Must have no fear of heights or confined spaces
• Good and fit health.
• Valid Driving License.
• Willingness to sleep out away from home.
• Sound knowledge & Experience of Concrete structures.
• Willingness to work outside South African borders
• Experience as Project Manager with projects >R15 Mil./year, preferably in a Water Eng.
• Environment and experience in working outside the borders of South Africa.

available in-house. Apart from work undertaken at our premises in Port Elizabeth (offices
and factory), we also render our services on-site, throughout Middle and Southern Africa.
SPEC is registered at the CIDB as a 7ME PE, 7CE PE and a 6EP PE – we currently are awaiting our 8ME PE and 8 CE PE registration
