Description
IT Delivery Management in “Customer Order Management-Parts Delivery, Supply Chain Overseas, Production Planning” IT Products, and applications.
Main responsibilities: IT Manager
- Provide design, development and operations services for IT Domain and IT Product processes according to the defined IT Hub strategy and agreed product portfolio in close alignment with Funnel Management, IT Domain and IT Product Owners.
- Ensure quality including security and compliance for the defined service scope in accordance with regulatory conditions valid for the customers and process partners.
- Source and manage an international product pipeline in close collaboration with Funnel Management, IT Domain, and IT Product Owners. Ensure availability, performance, and technical excellence of the ZA IT Hub workforce towards the IT Product Owners.
- Ensure all Delivery Management functions are in line with the BMW Group Agile Working Model. Influence business planning and assist supported business in international locations to align to central business strategies.
- Manage and lead a team of IT specialists in order to deliver high-calibre DevOps services to Parts Logistics (Customer Oder Management-Parts Delivery, Supply Chain Overseas, Production Planning) related IT Products.
- Enforce Standardization and re-use of the developed systems, processes, and software. (BMW Group Template Design & Development).
- Recruitment and proactive management of DevOps resources – resource planning to deliver on agreed products & projects.
- Maintenance of Governance models for Agile DevOps for the DevOps Hub South Africa together with Group IT.
General:
- Manage DevOps teams to specify, design, develop, test, and operate the IT Products and IT Services and assure their quality.
- Responsible for continually adjusting and improving the IT Products and IT Services.
- Ensures the availability of the IT Products and IT Services. Implements the IT Governance requirements (such as IT-Security, IT-Compliance, IT Risk and IT Architecture).
- Delivers all necessary support and assistance to the international process partners in alignment with the customer-oriented approach.
- Accountable for 24×7 DevOps according to the agreed customer requirements.
- Operate in an international environment spanning different time zones – must be available to attend to escalations/customers outside of normal ZA operating hours.
- Source international product pipeline and resources in the above-mentioned context.
- Design & Delivery of Global SAP and non-SAP products and „building blocks “to enable fast and flexible solutions and standard platforms (technical standardization).
- Ensure Problem management resolution and problem prevention.
- Ensure reliable sourcing and management of Agile DevOps services/resources.
- Promote and enable the development of Source code management such as Git Hubs.
Personnel / Resource management: IT Manager
- Mentor and coach team members to ensure the Feature Teams remain relevant in terms of skills required to support the product.
- Allocate and balance resources to support company and customer requirements.
- Forecast personnel/contractor resources required to achieve both short- and long-term IT Product objectives.
- Ensure the approval of additional or the availability of existing resources for additional prioritized requirements.
- Conduct permanent associate career planning and development.
Governance and Compliance
- Ensure IT-relevant Compliance requirements in the local and international legislative framework for own department, product areas, applications and projects.
- Ensure compliance with governance and adherence to all Agile Working Model processes and guidelines/instructions as prescribed by the BMW Group.
- Manage departmental finances including offer creation, planning, forecasting, execution and monitoring.
- Leadership Tasks Manage the resources and skills within the section in line with BMW Guidelines and Procedures.
- Disciplinarily lead associates in their own department in line with agreed goals and targets.
- Delegating tasks to subordinate specialists and managing their delivery accordingly.

- 10+ years working Experience in Engineering or Manufacturing in the Automotive, Science, IT or related industries.
- 5+ years of experience in Management with exposure to Engineering or Manufacturing, IT, Sales and Marketing and Financial Management or Commercial functions.
- 5+ years’ experience in international projects or working on international assignments.
- 5+ years Parts Logistics IT experience in the fields to Business Analyst, SAP configuration, ABAP programming or other relevant IT fields in Parts Logistics. Knowledge of BMW Group Supply Chain and system landscape would be highly valued.
- 7+ years Parts Logistics experience on Business side with regular exposure to requirement definition, process mapping and/or optimisation. Knowledge of BMW Group Supply Chain and system landscape is essential.
