Short Description / Purpose of Job
Provide an integrated view of technical support across the hubs to the ROAS SVP.
Develop and delivery of a long term, fully comprehensive technical landscape for the operating and services platforms.
Enable effective delivery of capital interventions associated with the technical landscapes of each operations area or based on business impact.
Enable and optimise the operation’s contribution to annual and monthly production planning processes within Sasol.
Align and translate monthly and annual plans in conjunction with relevant OME leads ensuring plans are cascaded and scheduled in alignment with the hub goals.
Ensure the continuous understanding of levers in the services and operations areas to further improve and develop services and operations based on data analysis, benchmarking to industry peers and competitors, as well as ensuring smart renewals linked to technology landscaping.
Develop business case build-ups for improvement projects, as well as ensure all governance related to capital and business processes are adhered to.
Implement capital and non-capital ideas and initiatives to improve service delivery or improve the competitiveness of service delivered.
Ensure availability and performance achievement of all assets (pipelines, equipment) through technical engineering support.
Project implementation and interface with PE, workforce productivity reporting & improvement.
Recruitment Description / Key Accountabilities
Optimise continuous improvement, manage technical support cost, and update standards focus on operational excellence by supporting and guiding operations and services managers.
Ensure optimal planning and optimisation of production scheduling across the hubs, interfacing with relevant Energy Operations functions, service providers and operating units to enable the deployment of agreed and approved standards.
Optimise service delivery and foster a culture of continuous improvement to aid the hubs in delivering set volume targets and enabling production of quality.
Ensure provision of plant support services across the hub to optimise quality, delivery, and cost Scope of Engineering services to include mechanical, electrical, specialist and industrial control engineering (ICE), technical IM (excluding general IM support such as desktop support).
Represent the operating hub in all interactions with Capital Projects and business track requirements. Lead capital approval meetings.
Coordinates with BU HR to ensure implementation of the people execution strategy and drive the required culture to deliver an effective employee value proposition.
Ensure the effective implementation of Sasol’s risk philosophy and enterprise risk management framework within the Operation.
Integrate with selected group functions to deliver value to Sasol, i.e. asset reviews, group capital reviews, etc.
Manage delivery of hub maintenance and replacement projects to agreed scope, on schedule and within budget.
Lead tier 5 project management, controls, and execution (incl. management of PMs and contractors) & portfolio interface and management for tier 1 projects.
Lead the Operating platform ROIC/ROCE initiatives to ensure sustainable business.
Monitor business and data analysis, benchmarking, and new services technology landscaping.
Lead the innovation team and facilitate the implementation of technical solutions that will lead to improvement in safety, productivity and reduced environmental impact.
Lead the development, implementation and roll-out of digital tools.
Lead the Industrial engineering effort – focused on business process and workflow improvement.
Manage pipeline, rotating equipment engineering (servitudes and pipeline infrastructure troubleshooting, monitoring, integrity,) and mechanical engineering support and associated discipline engineering.
Lead and manage process engineering support to gas infrastructure and wax plant.
Manage the design engineers (multi-disciplinary, incl. mining specialist) to support engineering workshops in different operations including mining, energy & chemical plants.
Interface with internal and external entities to manage and obtain engineering expertise as required.
Reliability – focused on assets management and strategies linked to regional ops (pipeline and wax), as well as equipment linked to services hub.
Implement and maintain work management for all work being executed by asset services.
Provide day-to-day support on reporting and measuring of KPIs.
Provide a P&O interface and scheduling activities for gas and wax operations.
Formal Education
Post Graduate Honours Degree (Preferably Engineering)
Min Experience
14+ relevant years in the Energy or Chemicals operations environment
