OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH NURSE

Joburg Market is looking for an OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH NURSE to render all medical, psychological, and counseling services, as well as health promotion programs and clinical support activities, in an employee wellness service center for employees. Under indirect supervision, provide independent primary care in a variety of clinical settings to a specified population of non-emergency patients.

Salary: R 31 766.00 per month

FIXED TERM CONTRACT: (8 MONTHS)

About Us

Every weekday and Saturdays, traffic gets much heavier on Heidelberg Road in the City Deep area of Johannesburg early before 5 am. This is because most vehicles are taking the turnoff marked “Joburg Market” – the one-stop destination for retailers, shopkeepers, street traders, restaurateurs, housewives and exporters alike. They all come to the Market to access the widest variety of fruit and vegetables ever imaginable.

From its humble beginnings, it has grown consistently to become the largest fresh produce market in South Africa and all of Africa by volume and value.

By way of comparison, the Joburg Market is twice the size of the second-ranked market in the country and bigger than 17 other local markets.

The Market serves about 5 000 farmers from across South Africa who send their fresh produce to be traded to a large buyer base, averaging about 10 000 daily.

Trade takes place via a commission system with the Market charging the producer a mere 5% commission on all sales made on the commission floor. A further negotiable levy of 7,5% is paid to Market Agents for selling produce on behalf of the farmer.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
– Provide general patient care and basic patient education, perform duties that indirectly support patient care such as scheduling, record-keeping, and maintaining supplies inventories, reviewing patient charts, obtaining and recording patient information and medical history and determining reasons for patient visits as and when required, obtain patient histories and develop patient care charts, ensuring completeness and accuracy, obtaining patient histories, and develop patient care charts, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
– Administer medications; apply sterile dressings, educate patients regarding health-related issues, Practice safety, environmental, and/or Infection control methods, perform medical examinations and evaluations, diagnoses, treatment, follow-up, consultation, and health education, assist with emergencies and injuries on duty, ensure that staff has adequate continuing medical and other relevant health care education, administer a specific health care activity, such as HIV prevention and education.

In cooperation with the Senior Wellness Officer, manage the budget of the wellness center in regards to wellness activities and the acquisition of required stock and supplies in cooperation with the Senior Wellness Officer, plan and execute a variety of wellness activities to improve the general physical and mental well-being of the JM employees.
– Maintain all relevant documents and project files for audit and inspection purposes, design and facilitate in co-operation with the Skills Development Facilitator health care training programs to the benefit of all employees and the Company as a whole.
– Participate in planning programs and in developing specific health policies and procedures.
– Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Qualifications
Occupational Health Nurse/ Primary Health Care Qualification
Up to 3 years relevant experience
Registration with Professional body: South African Nursing Council
